Britney Magazine Analysis 1

The framing around the image of Britney is writing it is the stories of what is in the magazine, from having the stories surrounding her like this; you automatically look at the picture and not the writing. The image is a medium long shot of Britney lying down on a silky pink sheet, the photograph has been taken from above, and this portrays a sexual image, it puts the reader above britney and makes the image more sexual. This type of magazine would be aimed at men and would be classed as an ‘adult’ magazine this is because of her costume.

Britney is wearing pink and black lingerie, the colours represent sexual references. The shade of pink on her underwear suggests that she is innocent and has a child like personality; this image is also portrayed by the teddy that she is holding. The black silk emphasises the way she is dressed provocatively and this grabs the male attention. The costume is very revealing and this also gets the male attention, she looks very curvy and attractive. The storyline that goes with the image is ‘inside the heart, mind and bedroom of a teen dream’ this suggests that there will be more images like this of Britney inside and it will get the male audience to buy the magazine.

The props used are a telly tubby bear and a phone. The teddy suggests that she is very childish and the way she is holding the teddy close to her suggests that she is holding on to her childhood or that her childhood is somehow still with her. The phone suggests that she is a typical teenage girl because she is on the phone chatting or gossiping.

The image is of Britney lying on a bed; this gives off a sexual message to the target audience and would appeal to more people. The pink silk sheet makes the image feminine and the costume adds to the sexual message given off by the setting.

The main intertextual reference on this magazine cover is the telly tubby bear, normally children would have the bear to play with or to comfort them but Britney is using it as a way of showing her childish or playful side, she is also using the bear to show that she is, in a way holding on to her childhood or showing she still has her childhood with her. The dominant colour on the magazine cover is obviously the hot pink, this shows Britney’s girly and feminine side, the dark colours in this image show how she has both a feminine side and a sexy side.
